How an AI photo colorizer works
The model recognizes what is in the picture, such as faces, hair, clothing, sky and trees, and gives each a believable color: warm skin tones, a blue sky, green leaves. If you remember the real color of a dress or a car, you can say so in the request.
It works for family archives, parents' wedding pictures and old military portraits, as well as modern photos shot in black and white on purpose.
How to colorize a photo on Photo AI, step by step
Colorizing is done in Create with a plain request. Upload the photo, choose a model (the recommended Nano Banana 2 handles most pictures, Nano Banana Pro is there for top quality) and type what you want. The result usually appears in your feed in about 15 seconds.
If the print is torn, stained or creased, run it through the restoration template first and colorize the clean copy afterwards. These are two separate steps, each paid on its own.
Example requests and tips
Pick a contrasty photo where faces and clothes are easy to see. Shoot album prints straight down with your phone camera, without glare; screenshots are not accepted.
Requests you can copy: "Colorize this black and white photo with natural colors, keep the face unchanged", "Make it color: navy suit, white shirt, green garden in the background", "Colorize this old wedding photo in soft, warm tones". The more real colors you can name, the closer the result gets to how it actually looked.
Price and payment
In Create, the cost depends on the model you pick and is paid in credits. The smallest pack is 100 credits for 19 900 so'm; the others are 275 credits for 49 900, 575 for 99 900 and 1 500 for 249 900 so'm. The restoration template is 8 credits. Top up with Click, Payme or an Uzcard/Humo transfer; if you are outside Uzbekistan, Telegram Stars is the option.
Can I colorize a photo for free?
Sign-up is free, and new users may get 10 gift credits, which covers one photo. The number of gifts per day is limited, so after that you top up with a pack.
Can I choose the colors myself?
Yes. List what should be which color, for example the dress, the eyes or the car, and the AI fills in the rest.
Do I need to install an app?
No, colorizing happens right in your phone or computer browser. Telegram users can find the same service in @selfiorabot.
Can it remove scratches and colorize at the same time?
The cleanest way is two steps: fix the photo with the restoration template, then colorize it in Create. You can also try asking for both in one Create request.
