How AI old photo restoration works
Paper photos fade, crease, tear at the edges and pick up stains over the years. An AI model reads what is left of the image and cleans it up: cracks and spots disappear, blurry areas become clearer, and the picture looks cared for again.
It matters most when a family has only one copy of a grandparent's portrait. Once restored, that copy lives on your phone and is easy to share with relatives.
Two ways to restore a photo on Photo AI

How to scan it and which prompt to use
Take the print out of its frame, lay it flat near a window and shoot straight down, avoiding glare and the shadow of your phone. Crop to the edges of the photo. Screenshots are not accepted, so upload the camera shot or a scanned file.
A good old photo restoration prompt is short and specific. Try: "Remove scratches, stains and creases, keep the face exactly the same", "Make the photo sharper, keep the vintage clothes and hairstyle", "Rebuild the torn corner and clean up the background".
After restoration: add color or motion
A restored black and white photo can then be colorized with a plain request in Create; we cover that on a separate page. You can also animate it into a short video, which takes about 1.5–2 minutes.
Is there free old photo restoration online?
Signing up is free, and new users may receive 10 gift credits, enough for one restoration with the template. Gifts per day are limited, so after that you buy a pack, from 19 900 so'm for 100 credits.

Will the face change?
The AI redraws missing details on its own, so compare the result with the original. In Create, add "keep the face the same" to your request, and if the likeness is off, try another model.
